In 1980, the LAMY Safari is launched on the market, the result of extensive youth psychology research and in cooperation with the Mannheim development group headed by Prof. Bernt Spiegel and designer Wolfgang Fabian. The introduction in the matt colours terracotta orange and savannah green was not a success at first; it was only with the introduction of the colour white that the success story took its course. Since then, the pen has been consistently and passionately developed, has been awarded international design prizes, has become the market leader in its category and is now the icon of the family-owned company LAMY.
